Norwegian Breakaway, the brand new cruise ship of NCL in Rotterdam

On 25 April, last Thursday, the Norwegian Breakaway was delivered by the famous Meyer Werf to the Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL). Today, the ship will make it maiden voyage from Southampton to New York. The ship has a capacity of 4.000 passengers but before the first real cruise there was yesterday a visit to Rotterdam. An opportunity for us to see the ship and to take some pictures.

Like all of the Norwegian free style cruise ships, the front bow is painted, this time with a design of the city of New York. An appropriate choice because this is the first real destination port. Just before departing in Rotterdam a large volume of white and blue balloons are released from the top deck. The port of Rotterdam greets the ship by using its water canon during the sail away. Together with our parents we silently watch the departure. What a top feeling.

  4. It sure is a huge ship. It looks so tall that it could topple over. I guess it won't be long before you are on board cruising off to NY.

Groetjes Dietmut
